The 13th Annual Minnesota Fire Marshals Conference provides an opportunity for outside
organizations and businesses to display and provide information to conference
participants. Attendees at the conference include Fire Marshals, Fire Inspectors, Fire Chiefs,
Building Inspectors, and Design Professionals. 

Approximately 100-150 professionals attend this event every year, and
because exhibitor spaces are limited, they will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.
This year's event offers many different ways organizations can engage and show their support.

The CEAT Career Fair is available for all students and alumni. This is an incredible opportunity to interact with companies offering both internships and full-time positions! With so many companies attending, you will want to be prepared with a lot of copies of your resume! Look for our app, Career Fair Plus, in the App Store!

We will briefly discuss the NFPA process, the proposed changes to the 2026 edition of NFPA 25, and what public inputs have been resolved.  

We will also review the current stage of the 2023 NFPA 25.

Hydraulic calculations are the foundation for supplying water-based fire protection systems with the appropriate amount of water. This course covers the procedures for hydraulic calculations in accordance with NFPA 13. The equations, principles and process will be reviewed in detail including selecting a design method along with finding the remote area and calculating flows and pressures. This program can be advantageous to those responsible for performing the hydraulic calculations as well as those who review them.

This FREE class is taught by the American Wood Council (an ICC Preferred Provider) 

This Course introduces firefighters, fire and building inspectors to tall mass timber (TMT) buildings (that can be constructed up to 18 stories in some cases), the history of cross laminated timber (CLT), how it is made and its properties.

Pre-planning and Fire Suppression of Buildings Under Construction This program is designed to provide background and information to fire and building code provisions of NFPA 241, Standard for Safeguarding Construction, Alteration, and Demolition Operations and NFPA 1620, Standard for Pre-Incident Planning. The second half of this program discusses fire suppression concerns and considerations when a large area construction site experiences a fire.

I-joists and Firefighter Safety

This program identifies the features and benefits of wood I-joists which explains the prevalence in the market.  The program also explains UL fire testing that identified the fire performance failures or light frame floor assemblies which led to changes in the floor protection requirements of the International Residential Code® (IRC). Alternate methods of protecting I-joist assemblies are explained along with the details of acceptable installation of specific assemblies.  This program will discuss changes in housing stock and interior contents, and changes in building materials that have posed a challenge for firefighters.

Wood Construction & the Fire Service

This is designed for fire service and building construction professionals to better know the principals of wood construction and how a thorough knowledge of wood construction and wood products can benefit the decision-making process. It will review all types of building construction, with a special focus on wood construction.

The Jefferson County Firefighters Association is sponsoring the 30th Annual Jeffco Fire Engine Rally. The rally begins with a parade of fire and EMS apparatus at 9:00 am. The parade will begin at the St. Pius X High School and travel north on Highway 61-67 to the fairgrounds in Herculaneum. At 10:00 am, the opening ceremony will begin with a memorial service and a special 9/11 memorial. Jefferson County Firefighter & EMS awards will also be presented during the opening ceremony along with presentations to the Parade Grand and the Parade Junior Grand Marshal . The rally will feature numerous fire apparatus and EMS vehicles on display, firefighter competitions, firefighter demonstrations, air rescue helicopters and numerous vendor booths. Numerous activities for children will include firefighter related games, a bounce house and inflatable maze, build it workshops by Home Depot and Lowe's, scavenger hunt, face paintings and a children's firefighter challenge. Fire department patch trading and selling will also be available. Food, drink and other concessions will be available for purchase. No alcohol is permitted. Awards for truck categories and competition winners will be presented at the closing ceremony. The event is open to the public and is free of charge.

It is time once again for Police K-9 Units and Emergency Services Personnel from across the region to rally in support of yet another very worthy cause.  This year, in the spirit of “paying it forward” the Glassboro Police Department and the Glassboro Parks and Recreation Department join together to help raise funds for the organization Fearless Movement. Their primary mission is to equip and empower those of all ages and backgrounds to rise above fear, despite their circumstances. They provide free youth programs, treatment, therapy, and support services for those battling mental health conditions, epilepsy, and overall fearful hardships as they arise within the community.

On Friday night October 2^nd from 5pm to 8pm we invite the community to come join us in a fall night out under the lights.  There will be games and attractions for everyone: Touch A Truck section, face painting, pumpkin patch, pumpkin painting, bounce houses, a visit from NJSP Helicopter and much more. As always, entry to the event is free of charge.

The Fire Prevention Institute focuses on important prevention and strategy issues facing fire officials, and provides networking opportunities related to education, engineering, and enforcement efforts to help improve safety in our communities, and help minimize loss due to the devastating effects of fire.  The Institute also includes essential training hours needed for code recertification of local code enforcement officials, public educators and fire investigators.

The topics for the FPI are based on the survey returns from the 2023 FPI. These surveys are very vital to us as we continue to meet your needs for great educational programs.

Topics this year will include: data and fire inspections, energy storage systems, member wellness, fireworks, youth firesetters, report writing, fire causes and CRR, paint spraying, kitchen hoods, smoke dampers, and fire sprinklers and historic districts to name a few.

The Idaho Fire Protection Forum is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement for the Art and Science of Fire Protection and its related fields. 

The Minnesota State Fire Chiefs Association (MSFCA) is made up of more than 1,700 senior fire officers that represent nearly 500 departments statewide. MSFCA provides valuable information and training to its members on a wide variety of technical, operational and policy-oriented topics.

2 Day Fire Sprinkler System Plan Review – Jeff Hugo, NFSA 
2 Cr A&R, 11 Cr Plan Review (Completes Plan Review requirement for 2024-2027 Cycle) 

This two-day course provides attendees with vital information on how to conduct the plan review process for water-based fire protection systems. Utilizing the requirements of NFPA 13, participants will be guided through an actual review of sprinkler system plans and calculations. They will discuss the importance of employing a systematic review process and identify the documents required for a complete plan review. Finally, participants will review and discuss a submittal of the hydraulic calculations presented with the plans. Discussion points include the process of hydraulic calculations, and identification of the key pieces of information, and the common errors that are made.

The National Fire Sprinkler Association will present an overview of the different types of fire sprinkler systems and the maintenance requirements necessary to ensure their effectiveness. The program will feature a live demonstration of a sprinkler head controlling a fire and offer attendees the chance to view the piping and controls for various types of sprinkler systems. There will be opportunities for questions and answers throughout the presentation. The overall goal is to provide participants with insights into how fire sprinkler systems protect lives and property and to dispel common misconceptions about these systems.

This two-course series is designed for anyone new to the fire protection industry, or anyone who is simply trying to learn more and advance their career, such as designers, estimators, and sales professionals. Purchased as a single transaction, students are enrolled in Layout Technician: Fundamentals, a series of self-paced On Demand Training modules and an upcoming instructor-led Layout Technician: Application course.

Students with basic knowledge of math, physical science, and drafting skills will learn basic sprinkler layout and detailing technician skills. All of the work elements necessary for NICET Level II Certification will be covered by the course including sprinkler selection, sprinkler spacing and location, obstructions to sprinklers, water supplies (public mains, tanks, and pumps), hydraulic calculation of sprinkler systems, and standpipe system layout, and calculation.
 

Layout Technician: Fundamentals (LTF) – A series of On Demand Training modules with instructor office hours, intervention, and support.

• These modules focus on the various core concepts necessary to understand and function as a Layout Technician in the 21st century. Learners explore content as simple as parts of a sprinkler using advanced 3D technology, up through and including carefully instructed hydraulic calculations – all while developing the soft skills necessary to overcome design challenges with the codes and standards in hand.
• The Layout Technician: Fundamentals course is available to enrolled students about 8 weeks in advance of the Layout Technician: Application course.
• Successful completion of Layout Technician: Fundamentals is a prerequisite to attending the Layout Technician: Application course.

Layout Technician: Application (LTA) - This instructor-led course is offered virtually.

• A 3-day instructor-led course that applies the content learned in the Layout Technician: Fundamentals course. Using project-based learning, students apply their knowledge of fire sprinkler layout concepts to a legitimate plan, learning through problem solving, research, and simply doing.
