2020 NFSA Virtual Fire Sprinkler Expo

Fire sprinklers in areas subject to freezing, such as attics, have several methods of protection. Underwriters Laboratories (UL) presents on the history of antifreeze and recent developments of listed antifreeze products. J.F. Ahern, a NFSA fire sprinkler contractor based in Wisconsin with branch offices across the mid-west of the US, presents on the challenges facing contractors and building owners of dry pipe systems, antifreeze, and other methods of freeze protection.

Learning objectives:

  1. Discuss the past and current methods of protecting areas subject to freezing with fire sprinklers.
  2. Understand the requirements in the codes and standards.
  3. Apply new techniques and educate owners on system selection and maintenance.
