There have been many recent large wood frame building fires in buildings under construction. In response, NFPA provided a research report in 2020 on the topic and changed NFPA 241 from a 6-year to a 3-year cycle. The NFSA Engineering & Standards committee worked directly with the NFPA 241 committee on many revisions for the 2022 edition to address the concerns of the sprinkler industry, and this webinar will explore all of the updates to appear in the 2022 edition, being released in the fall 2021. Participants should enter with a basic understanding of building codes and NFPA installation standards
Learning Outcomes: By the end of the program, the participant will be able to:
Identify the common causes and loss history of construction fires.
Understand the concerns for relative to temporary systems during construction.
Interpret the new sprinkler, standpipe, and fire pump requirements of the 2022 edition of NFPA 241.
Identify how temporary sprinkler, standpipe, and fire pumps can be used during construction as outlined by the 2022 edition
