Seminar Description: This highly interactive seminar describes the requirements for properly maintaining a water-based fire protection system in accordance with NFPA 25. The seminar clearly describes the responsibilities for compliance and record keeping. It describes the specific scope of the standard and identifies the various ways in which information related to changes in the system are handled.

  1. Describe the scope and purpose of NFPA 25 and the minimum requirements for the periodic inspection, testing, and maintenance (IT&M) of water-based fire protection systems.
  2. Describe the different roles and responsibilities of building owners/designated representatives, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction required by NFPA 25.
  3. Identify the specific building owner/designated representative responsibilities for properly maintaining a water-based fire protection system.
  4. Locate the applicable inspection and testing findings (non-critical and critical deficiencies and impairments) provided in the Annex Materials.
  5. Locate the applicable NFPA 25 Tables and IT&M frequency requirements and Component Replacement Action requirements for restoring systems back to service.
  6. Understand the different requirements for Internal Pipe Assessments and Internal Pipe Obstruction Investigations.
  7. Describe the measures to be taken for the proper handling of impairments and the requirements to return the system back to service in NFPA 25.
